Bison Feeding in Lords Park
7-8:30 AM; Fee: $2/Adult, $1/Child, Members Free
Join us for an up close and personal look at the bison, deer and elk at the Lords Park Zoo. Meet at the Museum for a short introduction after which we head for the zoo to assist the zookeeper in feeding these magnificent creatures. Space is limited to 12 people, so please register early!

Celebrate our ancient oaks, shagbark hickories and sugar maples of Lords Park! Have fun learning about natural history from the staff of Elgin Public Museum during this free drop-in program in Lords Park every 2nd and 4th Saturday throughout the summer.

Secret Lives of Honeybees
7-8 PM; Fee: $7, $4 Members
Honeybees, bumblebees, wasps – what’s the difference? Discover the answer from beekeepers Wes and Jill Nelson! Using tools of the trade for demonstration, the duo will explain the ins and outs of caring for beehives and honey collecting. They also examine the broader implications of our relationships with these pollinators, including issues such as Colony Collapse Disorder. This lecture may not be appropriate for children under the age of 13.

Webelo Cub Scout Nature Jamboree
1-4:30 PM; Fee: $15
Have fun completing Forester and Scientist pin requirements with our team from Elgin Public Museum and Hawthorne Hill Nature Center! Take a hike in the woods, discover amazing plants, catch all sorts of bugs and apply the laws of nature in cool science experiments! Please dress for the weather and bring a water bottle, insect repellent and a bag supper. Avoid disappointment and register early!

Mammals Family Science Night
6:00-8 PM; Fee: $2
Bring your family to Elgin Public Museum’s Science Night! Different stations will be set up around the Museum for kids and adults to conduct experiments, experience demonstrations and partake in discussions about this month’s topic: Mammals! As this is a drop-in program, no registration is required.
