Scouting Programs


Elgin Public Museum offers scouting programs to help both Boy and Girl Scouts achieve their goals!

Fun, hands-on programs are available for Cub Scouts (Tiger, Wolf, Bear, and Webelos), Daisy Scouts, Brownie Scouts, and Junior Girl Scouts.


Special Scouting Events!

Junior Girl Scout Outdoor Badge Bonanza
Friday, June 5
5:00 – 10:00 p.m.; Fee: $20

Complete Finding Your Way, Outdoor Cook, Outdoor Fun, and Sky Search badge requirements on a beautiful early summer evening at Hawthorne Hill Nature Center. Elgin Public Museum and Hawthorne Hill Nature Center staff will take you outdoors for hiking, stargazing, cooking out, and other fun activities with your friends. Please dress for the weather and bring a water bottle, mess kit, and insect repellent. We'll provide supper! Space is limited, so register early through the Elgin Public Museum.

 

Webelo Cub Scout Nature Jamboree
Saturday, August 29
4:00 – 7:00 p.m.; Fee: $20

Have fun completing Naturalist, Geologist, and Forester pin requirements with our team from the Elgin Public Museum and Hawthorne Hill Nature Center! Take a hike i9n teh woods, discover amazing plants, catch all sorts of bugs, solve rock mysteries and more! Please dress for the weather and bring a water bottle, insect repellent, and bag supper. Avoid disappointment and register early at the Elgin Public Museum.

About Scouting Programs

  • Programs are hands-on and actively involve both scouts and leaders.
  • Programs are geared to fulfill all the requirements for a badge, arrow, or petal.
  • Program Length:
    • Tiger & Daisy Programs are 45 minutes to 1 hour
    • Bear, Wolf, & Brownie Programs are 1 hour
    • Webelos & Junior Girl Scout Programs are 2 hours
  • A minimum of 2 weeks notice is required for all Scout Programs
  • Reservations and advanced payment are required for all Scout Programs. Call 847-741-6655.
  • Ten children is an ideal group size. The maximum number of children per class is 20.
